Atheneum Specialty Tour and Book Signing with Ben Nicholson

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, Ben Nicholson will provide a talk and specialty tour of the Atheneum. Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Richard Meier, the Atheneum has received numerous design awards, including the Progressive Architecture Award for 1979, the American Institute of Architects Award in1982, and the Twenty-five Year Award in 2008.
The talk will take place at 3:30 p.m. CST in the Clowes Theater followed by a tour of the building led by Ben. He will be available afterwards to sign copies of his 2019 book, Avant-Garde in the Cornfields: Architecture, Landscape, and Preservation in New Harmony.
Ben Nicholson was educated at the Architectural Association in London, the Cooper Union (New York), and Cranbrook (Michigan). He is Associate Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has guest taught at the Southern California Institute of Architecture and the universities of Edinburgh, London, Michigan, Houston, and Cornell.
